MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – One of the Bucks’ all-time legends and owners has passed away after spending decades with the franchise and in the Milwaukee community.
According to a post on X from the team, Junior Bridgeman, who played for Milwaukee from 1975 to 1984 and again from 1986 to 1987, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 71. The cause of his death has not been made public by the family.
“His hard work and perseverance led him to become one of the nation’s top business leaders, and last September, Junior’s professional life came full circle when he returned to the Bucks family as an owner. His memory will always be an inspiration to the Bucks organization,” the statement read and continued by saying, “We are heartbroken by Junior’s passing, and we send our deepest condolences to his wife, Doris; his children, Eden, Justin, and Ryan; his entire family; and all those close to him.”
Bridgeman, whose jersey number 2 was retired by the franchise back in 1988 and was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999, purchased a 10% stake in the Bucks last September and was widely considered to be one of the wealthiest NBA players of all time with a reported net worth of $600 million.
