MADISON, WI (WSAU) The winter high school season will wrap up with this week’s WIAA boys basketball state tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison Thursday thru Saturday.
Two central Wisconsin teams earned trips to state this time around. Marshfield in D-1 and Wausau East in D-2 will be heading to Madison after sectional wins on Saturday.
Marshfield beat Kimberly 62-35 while Wausau East rolled over West Salem 82-45.
Marshfield will face Waunakee in a D-1 semifinal on Friday night. It’s the first state tournament trip for the Tigers since 1994. Wausau East will play Wauwatosa West in a D-2 seminfinal Friday afternoon. The Lumberjacks were last in the tournament in 2007.
