MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers have decided who will become their new starting shortstop for the 2025 season.
According to manager Pat Murphy, who spoke to the media on Tuesday morning, Joey Ortiz will be the Brewers’ everyday shortstop this season, replacing Willy Adames, who left the franchise to sign with the San Francisco Giants this off-season.
The Brewers tried out different lineups throughout spring training, which included Brice Turang, Joey Ortiz, Caleb Durbin, and others playing shortstop before settling on Ortiz, who has hit for a .375 average and eight RBIs this spring.
What the Brewers will do with the opening at third base remains a mystery, but fans will likely see a platoon of players get starts at third throughout the season, with Oliver Dunn, Vinny Capra, and Caleb Durbin expected to get playing time.
