
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Wausau Police Department and other local organizations will screen a popular documentary highlighting the issue of homelessness in the United States.
According to a post by the Grand Theater, the screening of “Americans With No Address” will be held on Tueday, March 25th at 7:30 p.m. in partnership with Community Partners Campus and the Bridge Street Mission.
Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., and while it is free and open to the public, registration is encouraged. To register for the screening, simply add it to your shopping basket on the Grand Theater’s website.
The documentary, which follows producer Robert Craig’s team over the course of three weeks on a bus touring 20 major cities across 18 states to capture the essence of what is causing the homeless crisis in America, has gathered a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.2 rating on IMDb since it was released back in September of 2024.
Wisconsin’s homeless population has grown in recent years, with the most recent data from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development estimating a total of 4,900 homeless people in Wisconsin in 2024. Furthermore, the homeless population in Wisconsin’s rural areas has been increasing, rising from 2,938 in 2023 to 3,201 in 2024, the largest amount since 2017.
