WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – An arraignment hearing is scheduled Monday for Jessica Messman, 40, who is accused of bringing drugs into the Marathon County jail.
She was arrested in 2024 after two inmates overdosed on the same day. Bot inmates were rushed to the hospital and were revived.
She’s charged with delivering fentanyl as party to a crime and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment. If convicted, Messman could face additional jail time as a repeat felony offender. She allegedly concealed the drugs within her body, and was not detected during a strip-search.
Messman had been out of jail for only a month when she was arrested on the drug charges. At the time she had left her daughter unattended when she was found passed out in her car in a parking lot.
She’s been held in the Marathon County Jail pending Monday’s court appearance.
