MARYVALE AZ (WSAU) As the Milwaukee Brewers were dropping a spring game to the A’s on Saturday they were also making some roster moves ahead of Opening Day this Thursday.
Caleb Durbin and Tyler Black were optioned to AAA Nashville and non-roster invitee Manuel Margot was released giving the Brewers 13 healthy position players for 13 open spots on the roster.
Also, Rule 5 draftee Connor Thomas was told he would make the Opening Day roster. The pitcher must be on the active roster or injured list all season or be put on waivers.
The Brewers are playing split-squad action on Sunday vs Colorado and Seattle.
Opening Day is Thursday in New York vs the Yankees.
