MADISON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Wisconsin Lutheran got out to an early lead, lost it and trailed for most of it, only to comeback and win by a final score of 57-55 over Marshfield in the WIAA Division 1 State Championship.
It is the second straight title for the Vikings, who found gold with a Division 2 championship in 2024.
It took the Marshfield a while to get going. Wisconsin Lutheran jumped out to a 8-0 lead out of the gate before Chris Pohl hit a jumper for the first Marshfield score more than five minutes into the game. It was 13-2 at one point.
A couple of threes from Camden Kolstad got them back into the game.
Marshfield led by 6 in the second half.
Wisconsin Lutheran took the lead for good when Zavier Zens scored with 36 seconds remaining for a 56-55 lead.
Marshfield’s Landon Lee, 25 points, lost the ball on their possession, leading to a foul on Zens. He made one of two free throws, but secured an offensive rebound as time ran out.
