The Wausau City Council will finalize one of the proposed cost-saving measures proposed as part of the 2025 city budget on Tuesday.
Alders will vote to implement a $1 per ticket fee for all events that require a public safety or police presence, a move that could bring in up to $70,000 to cover overtime and other expenses related to securing large events.
The item is part of Tuesday’s consent agenda, a package of items that are given a straight up or down vote without discussion. Alders may request to have the item pulled from the consent agenda for a separate vote with discussion.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6:30 at City Hall. Public comment is part of the agenda.
Alders will then go to the Grand Theater for a screening of the documentary ‘Americans With no Address.’ They will not conduct business during or after the screening, though a quorum of the council will be in attendance.
