TOWN OF BRADLEY, WI (WSAU) — A 53-year-old Wittenberg man is accused of causing two crashes along US Highway 8 in Lincoln County while driving drunk last Tuesday.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, David B Eichman was westbound on Highway 8 when he drifted across the center line and struck an eastbound vehicle head-on. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found him trapped in his vehicle and immediately noticed signs of impairment. However, they were unable to give him a field sobriety test due to his injuries.
During the initial investigation officers also learned that Eichman’s vehicle was involved in a rear-end hit-and-run collision near Highways 8 and 51.
Eichman was hospitalized and is facing charges for OWI causing injury and recklessly endangering safety. He’s also facing fines for hit-and-run, following too closely, and operating a vehicle left of the center line.
Court action against him is pending.
