RIB LAKE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Rib Lake held a groundbreaking event, to unveil future changes to their Middle and High Schools.
The school buildings date back the late as the 1960s. The new renovation will change how both schools function entirely. Students and staff can’t wait for the final product.
The Rib Lake District Administrator, Travis Grubbs said, “It spans so many different environments. There is obviously going to be a lot of excitement about having a gym where we can host regional events… Being able to have a full sized band room, where we can practice in… Being able to celebrate and enjoy it with our community as well. I think everyone is very excited for that.”
This change stems from many different problems in the schools. Frustration started to build over the fact that students and staff would have to travel building to building to go to certain classrooms, or attend certain events.
Grubbs added, “We need to have a school where every student feels safe. And they are able to get to the spaces they need to get to. By connecting these (the schools), now we aren’t having students traveling outside, in the elements at different times of the year. We aren’t having them go in and out through doors regularly. But we are able to have our students inside.”
By simply connecting the schools, more space will be available. The old gym will be split in half to be turned into a cafeteria, and the band room. With a brand new, bigger gym replacing it. As well as shop classes having an upgraded space to create and learn.
