NEW YORK CITY, NY (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are starting the 2025 season on a rough note after falling to the New York Yankees 4-2.
Rising star outfielder Jackson Chourio struggled to get going on Thursday afternoon, going 0-5 with five strikeouts, while fellow outfielder Christian Yelich also failed to record a hit, going 0-4 with two strikeouts and a walk. Third baseman Vinny Capra had the biggest hit of the game for Milwaukee after hitting a solo home run in the top of the third inning.
Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta went five innings, allowing two earned runs and just one walk, while Yankees starter Carlos Rodon also pitched five innings, giving up just one earned run on four hits.
Former Brewers closer Devin Williams got the save for New York after allowing one earned run on two hits.
Milwaukee will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they face the Yankees again at 12:05 p.m. CST. Nester Cortes will get the start for the Brewers while Max Fried will get the start for New York.
