MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Kansas City Royals on Monday afternoon, 11-1, to become the first Brewers team since 2015 to begin the season 0-4.
The Brewers’ offense struggled to get going as Jackson Chourio was the only Brewer to record an RBI on Monday, as he went 1-4 with three more strikeouts, while the Royals got a big day from third baseman Jonathan India, who recorded three hits, 2 RBIs, and scored twice.
Elvin Rodriguez got the start for Milwaukee and pitched four innings while giving up four earned runs on six hits, while Kansas City’s starter, Kris Bubic, went six shutout innings and gave up just three hits.
Rodriguez’s and the rest of the Brewers’ pitching staff’s performance on Monday put the 2025 Brewers as the first team in MLB history to allow 47 runs in the first four games of the season. The staff also now has a combined ERA of 12.27, and opposing hitters hold a .336 average against Brewers pitchers.
Chad Patrick will take the mound for the Brewers against the Royals on Tuesday night as they look to avoid falling to 0-5 for the first time in franchise history, while Kansas City will give Michael Lorenzen the ball to start. The first pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. on WSAU.
