GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers aren’t closing the door on one of their top defenders staying with the franchise for the 2025 season.
According to GM Brian Gutekunst, who spoke to the media on Monday morning, cornerback Jaire Alexander may be staying with the Packers after all, saying, “We have some time here to kind of figure that out and see what’s best for him and for the organization.”
When asked if Alexander could remain a Packer for another year, he said, “It could be a possibility. Absolutely.”
Alexander, 28, has missed 23 games over the last two seasons due to injuries and would be due $16.1 million and $7.8 million signing bonus in 2025 if the Packers were to keep him for another season. Green Bay would save $17.1 million if they were to cut him with a post-June 1 designation.
The Packers are keeping their options open at the position as they did host projected first-round pick East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel for an official top 30 visit last week and were one of 13 teams to meet with Texas’ cornerback Jahdae Barron and one of eight teams to meet with Louisville cornerback Quncy Riley during last month’s NFL Combine.
