KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU) – The Village of Kronenwetter is extending its polling time by an extra hour after technical issues caused many voters to have a tough time voting on Tuesday morning.
According to a press release, election officials switched to paper poll books around 10:00 a.m., but some voters had already left due to long wait times, so a court has ordered polls in Kronenwetter to remain open until 9 p.m. in line with a petition filed by Marathon County Clerk Kim Trueblood and Village of Kronenwetter Clerk Jennifer Poyer.
“We understand the frustration this caused for voters,” said County Clerk Kim Trueblood. “Extending polling hours in the Village of Kronenwetter by one hour ensures that every eligible Kronenwetter resident has the opportunity to cast their ballot.”
Polling places in all other Marathon County municipalities will close at 8:00 p.m. in accordance with Wisconsin election law. After the election, Clerks Trueblood and Poyer will work with the Wisconsin Elections Commission to determine the cause of the issue.
