MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers went to extra innings and laid down a game-winning squeeze bunt to defeat the Kansas City Royals 3-2 and win their second straight game after starting the season 0-4.
Brewers ace Freddy Peralta was the star of the game, pitching eight innings and allowing just one earned run on two hits, while relievers Abner Uribe, Trevor Megill, and Jared Koenig pitched a combined three innings, allowing no runs on two hits.
Shortstop Brice Turang laid down the game-winning bunt in the bottom of the 11th to score Oliver Dunn, but outfielder Jackson Chourio continues to be the leader of the Brewers’ offense, going 3-5 for 2 RBIs and a home run on the day.
The Brewers will remain at home over the weekend as the Cincinnati Reds will begin a four-game series starting on Thursday. Nester Cortes will get the start for Milwaukee while Nick Lodolo will take the mound for the Reds. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. on WSAU.
