RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The World Axe Throwing Championships will be held in Appleton, Wisconsin from April 3-6th.
Nearly 500 hatchet and knife throwers from all over the world will look to take home the gold.
Darin Gease picked up the sport in 2023 and now competing in his first world championships and looks to have a big tournament so he can turn pro. “It’s my first time so I’ll definitely get to see a bunch of other throwers and also all the people that are throwing for the same venue as well,” said Gease.
John Doepke on the other hand is looking to retain his crown as a doubles champion. “I’ve never come into a worlds being the defending champion. We’ve always approached every tournament just relaxed, have fun win or lose, we’re going to have a great time and I think that helps us,” said Doepke.
The competition will be held at the Fox Cities Expo Center in Appleton.
