RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — There’s good news for users of the Hodag Dome in Rhinelander.
An inspection from Arizon, the company that manufactured the inflatable structure, shows less damage than originally thought. The company plans to have a crew on site by next Thursday to begin reconnecting the fabric, and if all goes as planned, the structure could be re-inflated by early May.
Workers will also install new lighting over the tennis and pickleball courts and perform touch-up repairs to the interior before the facility reopens, which could be in late May.
“We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and continued support as we work through this challenge,” said Superintendent Eric Burke in a Facebook post. “In just a few short years, the Hodag Dome has become an incredibly valuable resource for our students, our community, and the entire region. We’re excited to see it return to full operation soon.”
Ice and debris caused several tears in the roof during a late March ice storm. A widespread power outage caused the structure to deflate after a backup generator failed to kick in.
