WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Marathon County Administrator Lance Leonhard has confirmed that Health Officer Laura Scudiere has resigned.
In an email to WSAU News, Leonhard says Scudiere resigned in early March and Director of Community Health Improvement Amanda Ostrowski has since been named interim Health Officer.
Leonhard says Ostrowski received the appointment on March 20th. Since Scudiere’s resignation, he has also been working with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and leaders at the Marathon County Health Department “to ensure that we continue to deliver the high-quality services that our Health Department is known for, while also planning for the recruitment of our next Health Officer.”
A search for the next Health Officer is underway, with the job description and application available on the County’s website. The Board of Health was presented with a search timeline this week, which calls for candidate screening over the next few weeks. Interviews could begin as soon as May 7th. Second-round interviews, if needed, would be conducted in mid-May.
Should that timeline hold, an offer could be made to the desired candidate in late May, with a start date in mid to late June.
Scudiere was appointed as Health Officer in August of 2021 after serving in leadership positions with Bridge Community Health Clinic and North Central Health Care.
