GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – A former top ten pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is scheduled to visit the Green Bay Packers this week as the team continues to complete their board for next week’s 2025 NFL Draft.
After playing for the New York Giants for the last two seasons, linebacker Isaiah Simmons, the eighth overall selection out of Clemson in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, is scheduled to visit the Green Bay Packers on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Simmons was named an All-Rookie in 2020 after starting seven games as a rookie, all 17 games in 2021 after recording 105 tackles and four forced fumbles, and 13 games in 2022 after recording 99 tackles and two interceptions.
Simmons has participated in 84 of 85 games throughout five seasons, making 42 starts. He has 329 tackles, with 8.5 sacks and 15 tackles for loss. In addition, he has added 21 passes defended, nine caused fumbles, and five interceptions.
With only five linebackers on the roster—Quay Walker, Edgerrin Cooper, Isaiah McDuffie, Ty’Ron Hopper, and the return of Kristian Welch—the Packers need to add more depth at linebacker, and with this year’s linebacker class not being considered very strong, signing a veteran like Simmons would make a lot of sense for Green Bay.
