MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers will be without one of their starting offensive linemen for the 2025 season after he suffered a season-ending knee injury during spring practice last Thursday.
During his media availability on Tuesday, head coach Luke Fickell confirmed that starting left tackle Kevin Heywood sustained an ACL injury that would require surgery and will “probably” keep him out of action for the entire 2025 season. The specifics of the ACL tear’s severity have not yet been made public.
Heywood, a former high school All-American and a 2023 four-star recruit, played in every one of the Badgers’ 12 games as a true freshman in 2024, and the team is expected to give starting left guard Joe Brunner an opportunity to win the starting left tackle job while seniors Kerry Kodanko and JP Benzschawel compete for the team’s starting guard jobs.
