MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – A new report indicates that the Milwaukee Brewers are expected to call up one of their top pitching prospects for their upcoming series against the San Francisco Giants.
According to MLB insider Sean Wright, the Brewers are working on calling up closer Craig Yoho as the team looks to solidify the back end of their bullpen following recent struggles and injuries to current closer Trevor McGill. Starting pitcher Logan Henderson, who had a solid first career outing for Milwaukee on Sunday against the A’s, is expected to be optioned back down to Triple-A.
Yoho, who was drafted by the Brewers in the 8th round of the 2023 MLB Draft and is currently Milwaukee’s 18th-ranked prospect, has been dominant in Triple-A Nashville over the last two seasons, holding a career 1.16 ERA and going 11 for 11 in save attempts. His fastball impressed the Brewers’ pitching staff during spring training, hitting speeds as high as 96 MPH, but his changeup is his dominant pitch, as it averages around 77-79 mph and has generated an elite 45.9% whiff rate.
