WAUPACA, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Two drivers are injured following a head-on, wrong way crash in Waupaca County on Sunday night.
In a release, the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on U.S. Highway 10 just before 9pm.
Authorities say a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes collided head-on with another vehicle. The crash took place east of Churchill Street.
A 62-year-old man, the driver of the vehicle that was hit, was airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old wrong-way driver was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Local law enforcement and emergency services, including Waupaca Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol, responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
