GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — Cellcom service is “performing well” for most customers, according to the latest update from the regional carrier as they continue to shake off the effects of a cyber attack.
In a Tuesday afternoon Facebook post, Cellcom said they continue to “stabilize” the network following the incident. Those who continue to see interrupted service are asked to restart their devices or briefly put them in airplane mode.
If problems persist, you’re asked to contact customer service.
According to Cellcom’s FAQ page, the incident started with signs of unusual activity on Wednesday, May 14th. They took the network down in line with their protocols and determined that the incident was a cyber attack.
The carrier says it will cover outage-related service fees for customers who choose to stay during the incident. The amount will be automatically applied to a future service bill.
Officials continue to emphasize that the incident was isolated and did not involve customer data such as payment information, addresses, or credit card numbers. Users are encouraged to stay up-to-date on the restoration process through the Cellcom website.
