The Wausau Parks and Recreation committee will consider what’s next now that Riverlife Park is without a concessions stand operator.
An agreement was in place with a local group that planned to serve ice cream and pizza out of the building, but they backed out in May due to an unspecified health emergency. Now the department will come back to the committee with three options.
Those include issuing a new request for proposals, purchasing an ice cream vending machine for the stand, or closing the stand for the summer while a new request for proposals is issued.
Staff notes that a vending machine has a small overhead cost and could be moved to other areas in the future. Issuing a short RFP would likely mean the stand stays closed past July 1st while a group rushes to put staff and equipment in place.
More on the proposals is included in Monday’s agenda packet. The meeting begins at 5:15 at City Hall, and a live stream will be available on YouTube.
