The City of Wausau will consider additional road resurfacing projects this year, thanks to a second consecutive mild winter.
Mayor Doug Diny is proposing $250,000 worth of additional resurfacing projects after the 2024-’25 winter road maintenance work came in well under budget. It’s unclear how much work that will accomplish.
Last week, the Mayor said the city has fallen behind on maintenance, with many streets rated poor or very poor. He says the proposal won’t fix all of the problems, but it will help the city play catch-up.
The city made a similar move last year, taking $200,000 from the winter maintenance budget and moving it to overlay work.
