Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — William Contreras recorded an RBI double and a sac fly while starting pitcher Freddy Peralta went six innings and gave up just four hits in a 3-2 Brewers win over St. Louis on Friday.
Contreras opened the scoring in the 4th inning, bringing home Sal Frelick. The Cardinals struck back with a Nolan Arenado double in the 5th to tie the game, but a productive out and fielder’s choice in the 6th would prove to be the deciding factor.
Contreras scored Frelick again on a sacrifice fly. Then, with one out and Jackson Chourio on 3rd, Christian Yelich would ground to the second baseman. Chourio was sent home and beat the throw from second baseman Nolan Gorman, making the score 3-1.
Peralta gave up just one earned run in the outing while striking out six and walking one. Trevor Megill allowed one run on two hits in the 9th but struck out two and managed to nail down his 14th save of the season.
Game three of the series is this afternoon. Coverage begins at 2:35 on WSAU with first pitch just after 3:00.
