Stevens Point Police
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point Police and Fire Commission is moving forward with four candidates for the vacant Police Chief post, including two internal candidates.
Current Lieutenant Joseph Johnson and Assistant Chief Dana Williams will interview for the job later this month. Two external candidates, Lake Halle Police Chief Edward Orgon Jr, and Baraboo Police Captain Ryan La Broscian, are also in the mix.
Each candidate will face two interviews on October 23rd- one with a law enforcement panel and one with a panel of local stakeholders. Commissioners will meet on November 6th to decide if any of the four warrant further interviews or background checks.
They hope to have a new Chief in place after Thanksgiving.
The successful candidate will succeed the current Chief, Robert Kussow, who retires in January. Kussow has served as Chief since April 2022.
