WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — Multiple agencies are investigating a pair of overnight deaths in Wisconsin Rapids.
It started at about 1 AM when a 34-year-old man was dropped off at the Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Emergency Room with life-threatening injuries. He died while receiving treatment.
While investigating that incident, they were called to a disturbance on 11th Street South, where they found a 56-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He died at the scene.
One person has been arrested, and officers say they have collected preliminary evidence and are interviewing witnesses. The situation sparked a brief shelter-in-place order for a Wisconsin Rapids neighborhood, which has since been lifted.
All names are being withheld at this time. Officers continue to emphasize that there is no known threat to the public, and further updates will be sent as the situation warrants.
