Robert Bowen
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — New trial dates have been set for the former Riverside Fire Chief as he faces child enticement and sexual assault charges.
Robert Bowen will face a jury between April 7th and 9th. Investigators accuse him of making inappropriate sexual advances and contact with a child between June 2023 and May 2024.
He faces up to 25 years in prison if found guilty of one count of child enticement. The case also involves a pair of misdemeanor offenses that could bring additional jail time.
Bowen was serving as the Chief for the Riverside Fire Department, which covers Rothschild and Schofield, when the accusations came to light. He was put on administrative leave and later reached a separation agreement with the department. At the time, Village leaders in Rothschild noted that none of the alleged misconduct occurred while Bowen was on the clock.
The case had been scheduled for trial this week. That was wiped off the calendar earlier this fall. No reason for the delay was given.
A final pretrial conference is scheduled for March 9th. The 54-year-old is free on a $15,000 cash bond.
