MEDFORD, WI (WSAU) — On Friday, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center received a 911 call reporting a missing person near the 7600 block of Perkinstown Avenue in the Township of Hammel. The caller reported that her husband had been ice fishing on Washington Flowage that afternoon and had not yet returned.
When emergency personnel arrived, they observed a sled trail leading to an open area of ice, along with the sled in the water.
Wings of Hope and Bruce’s Legacy were both contracted for their Specialized equipment and expertise in searching in open bodies of water. The missing person was then found deceased in the water and removed. Later, the body was identified as Randall K. Runge, age 69.
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office gives its condolences to the family of Runge.
