MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department battled with a fire in below-freezing temperatures. A total of eight personnel found a single-story wood-framed home with a large amount of thick smoke coming from the attic and attached garage. The crew had limited visibility because of the smoke and had requested a box alarm for additional resources.
The severe cold weather would cause the equipment to freeze, making it hard to open the fire hydrant.
A fire barrier in the home and a quick fire attack saved the building from heat, smoke, and fire damage.
