CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) A student whistleblower has leaked the classroom syllabus on EDU 201, a course titled Identity and Difference in Education at the University of Illinois.
Freshmen who are pursuing teaching degrees are required to take the class.
It is an indoctrination class for LGBTQ issues.
One of the lectures states, “teaching in polarizing times, you have to be political.” Students who don’t use preferred pronouns won’t pass the course. So… a conservative student who won’t pretend that a boy is girl or vice versa are considered intolerant, they will fail. If you believe there are two genders, and reject they/them, you can either pretend and play along, or stand up for your beliefs and get an “F”.
One slide for the class states that LGBTQ students are under attack. The opposing view, that those who believe in traditional gender identity are under attack on college campuses, isn’t discussed at all. Students are told that 18 states have passed anti-LGBTQ legislation; that’s a half-truth. Most of that legislation is pro-parents rights; that schools can’t secretly allow students to ‘transition’ or to present as another gender behind their mother and fathers backs.
The course also cites suicide statistics from a group called the Trevor Project. The group matches underage students with older mentors within the LGBTQ community without parental consent. Some of these vulnerable young people are groomed.
One of the lectures is teachers supporting social justice. That is, you’re failing your students if you’re not down for the political struggles of the day. Teachers who believe in being objective and keeping politics out of the classroom need not apply.
EDU 201 at the University of Illinois reminds us that indoctrination is alive and well on college campuses.
