Clinton Mayotte
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A Wisconsin Rapids man will be sentenced for one count of attempted homicide this afternoon.
Clinton Mayotte entered a no contest plea to the count in September, in exchange numerous other counts were dismissed. He now faces up to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years.
The 41-year-old was involved in a domestic disturbance in Wisconsin Rapids that occurred in August 2024. When first responders arrived, Mayotte had already left the scene.
Officers caught up to him in Portage County, but he fled the scene and returned to Wisconsin Rapids, where officers disabled his vehicle. He fled to the top of a downtown building, leading to a standoff with police.
He was injured by police in an exchange of gunfire and hospitalized. Since then, he’s been held on a $2.1 million cash bond.
Sentencing is scheduled for 2:30 PM in Wisconsin Rapids.
