ARBOR VITAE, WI (WSAU) — A 34-year-old Three Lakes man is dead after a head-on collision between a pickup and a dump truck in Vilas County.
First responders were called to an area near US 51 and Trapp Road in the Town of Arbor Vitae at about 10:30 Tuesday morning. Investigators determined that a southbound Chevy pickup had drifted across the center line, striking a northbound Kenworth dump truck.
The driver of the Chevy died at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, a 23-year-old Green Bay man, was not injured.
The State Patrol is investigating the crash. That process is expected to include a full reconstruction of the scene and a post-crash motor carrier inspection on the dump truck.
Names of those involved will be released after the next of kin have been notified.
