Randall Harris Jr.
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The state has rested its case in the Randall Harris Jr homicide trial.
Court records show that the state ended its portion of the trial on Thursday at 4:30 PM. Jurors were then excused and reminded not to discuss the case with anyone else.
The defense began its portion of the trial on Friday morning. The case is expected to last through Wednesday, February 18th.
Harris Jr faces life in prison for allegedly killing Randall Harris Sr, his father, last October. Officers were called to the home to find Harris Sr.’s body in the basement with multiple gunshot and stab wounds. The younger Harris was arrested near the home without incident.
The trial originally started on Monday, February 2nd, but came to a halt two days later when a judge declared a mistrial due to a Brady violation, meaning the prosecution withheld evidence from the defense. The issue was corrected, and the trial was restarted one week later with a new jury.
