MERRILL, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A Merrill man has pleaded not guilty to nearly 50 counts in an animal abuse case. Matthew J. Krautkramer, 34, was charged on January 8 after 16 dead cats were found abandoned in his home.
Krautkramer waived his preliminary hearing Friday morning in Lincoln County Court. A judge found probable cause that a crime was committed and bound the case over for trial.
He faces charges of mistreatment causing death, intentionally failing to provide food for animals and intentionally abandoning animals.
Krautkramer is free after posting a $2400 cash bond on January 9. A telephone scheduling conference is set for April 9.
