Chelsie Lehmann
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A plea deal has been reached for Chelsie Lehmann, the mother of an alleged sexual assault victim who had been reported missing out of Portage County back in the fall.
WAOW TV reports the 32-year-old pleaded no contest to child neglect, leading to a sex offense. Charges of harboring a felon and encouraging a parole violation were dismissed, but read in.
The deal wipes out a jury trial that was scheduled for April 14th. That date will now serve as sentencing, where she will face up to 12.5 years in prison.
In September, Lehmann’s then 6-year-old daughter was reported missing, prompting an Amber Alert. The child was found days later in the woods in the Town of Almond with Jordan Coyle, who was subsequently taken into custody.
Authorities say DNA evidence confirmed recent sexual contact between Coyle and the child. Lehmann’s charges stem from allegedly allowing Coyle, who had a prior conviction restricting him from living with children, to reside with the family.
Coyle’s bond remains set at $1,000,000. He had a preliminary hearing scheduled for later today (Feb. 19th), moved up from March 2nd.
