MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The WIAA Boys and Girls State Wrestling Championships are underway in Madison, and if you don’t already have a ticket for one of the sessions, you are out of luck.
The Association announced that tickets for all sessions are sold out. They do not expect any tickets to be available for walk-up customers.
“This weekend is about the student-athletes — their discipline, their resilience and the work it takes to reach the state tournament,” said WIAA Executive Director Stephanie Hauser in a press release. “A sold-out Kohl Center is a powerful sign of how much Wisconsin values wrestling and the opportunities high school sports create.”
Hauser says the Association understands the frustration the situation has caused for fans, and they will use the situation to adjust policies and procedures moving forward.
The Kohl Center is one of Wisconsin’s largest indoor sports venues, seating 16,838 for basketball and 15,511 for hockey.
Those without tickets should plan to watch the bouts on WIAA.tv. State Championship matches will be broadcast on the WIAA State Television Network.
