Desiree Osman
WAUPACA, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The 31-year-old suspect in the disappearance of Jon “Jake” Morgan, who went missing six years ago, made her first court appearance on Friday.
Desiree Osman has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide, party to a crime of hiding a corpse, delivering up to three grams of heroin, and two counts of bail jumping.
According to a criminal complaint, Osman gave Morgan fentanyl on March 6, 2020, which led to his death. One of Jon’s distant relatives told investigators he was with Osman at her residence in the King area, within the Town of Farmington.
Osman was interviewed multiple times by deputies in 2020, admitting that she was the last person to see Jon alive and later stated, “He’s dead.”
Today in the Waupaca County Courthouse, Jon’s parents, Jon and Michelle, gave their statements. “The defendant in my eyes is a domestic terrorist,” Jon said. “Not only has she terrorized myself, his mother, her family, my family, basically the entire community for that matter, for almost seven years.”
“I know that my son is no longer alive,” Michelle said. “But since his body was dumped somewhere, we haven’t been able to have a funeral or put him to rest.”
Osman is now being held on a $100,000 cash bond. Morgan’s parents expressed mixed emotions following the court ruling. “It is very emotional,” Jon said. “It’s nervous, it’s happy, it’s sad, it’s all of the above.”
“Your son goes missing, you know someone is involved,” Michelle said. “Yet we have no answers, we don’t know where he is, and there is no finalization yet.”
While investigators believe Jon’s body was moved from Osman’s residence, his body has still not been located. Osman will return to court on March 6th and 9th. She is also the subject of an open case in Langlade County.
