Wisconsin Badgers
MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The #1 ranked Wisconsin womens hockey team beat Minnesota State-Mankato 7-2 Thursday in St. Paul to advance to the Championship game of the WCHA Final Faceoff.
Kelly Gorbatenko and Kirsten Simms had two goals each for the Badgers. Also scoring were Caroline Harvey, Adela Sapovalivova and Maggie Scannell. Ava McNaughton had 25 saves.
Ohio State beat Minnesota 4-0 in the other semin-final. The Badgers and Buckeyes will square off on Saturday afternoon.
The Wisconsin mens hockey team dumped 11th ranked Penn State 7-3 on Thursday night in Happy Valley. The badgers clinched home ice for the Big Ten tournament quarter-finals and will take on Ohio State next Wednesday at the Kohl Center.
Seven different players scored goals for Wisconsin. Quinn Finley, Vasily Zelenov, Grady Deering, Simon Tassy, Ryan Botterill, Adam Pietila and Gavin Morrissey all lit the lamp for the Badgers.
Daniel Hauser had 28 saves for the Badgers.
Wisconsin will play Penn State again tonight (Friday) in the regular season fianle. Pre-game show at 5:30 on WSAU.
