MADISON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Gov. Tony Evers has declared a state of emergency as a historic winter storm strikes Central and Northern Wisconsin
WAOW TV Meteorlogists are forecasting record-breaking snowfall and gusty winds, potentially leading to blizzard conditions, damage, and power outages for parts of the state. That’s prompted a Blizzard Warning through Monday for much of the state.
As of Sunday morning, Meteorologist Justin Loew is predicting up to 24 inches of snow in some areas.
“As we prepare for significant snowfall that could impact much of our state, we’re urging Wisconsinites to be careful and plan ahead,” said Gov. Evers in a press release. He advised residents to stock up on essentials, prepare for power outages, and stay informed through reliable weather sources. “Wisconsinites, as always, are helpers by nature, so please take good care, look out for each other, and take care of one another,” Evers said.
Many schools are already phoning in cancellations or virtual learning days for Monday.
