Wisconsin Badgers
UNIVERSITY PARK, MD (WSAU) – The University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team won its 9th national championship on Sunday afternoon. The Badgers defeated Ohio State, 3-2.
The game winning goal came 7-minutes into the third period, when senior Claire Enright scored from close range.
The Badgers had jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Ohio State rallied to tie the match early in the 3rd period.
Goalie Ava McNaughton recorded 34 saves in the championship game, and was named the series outstanding player.
The Badgers finish the year with 35 wins, 4 losses and 2 ties.
