MERRILL, WI (WSAU) – A woman is in the Lincoln County jail, charged with child neglect resulting in death.
Katelyn Nardi, 27, is being held on a $150,000 cash bond. investigators say her 5-year-old daughter died in a bathtub after complaining that she wasn’t feeling well. A criminal complaint said the child was left unattended for about five minutes while Nardi prepared the girl’s bedroom for the night.
This is the second child to die in Nardi’s care. In 2023, her 5-month-old daughter died.
The judge said a high bond was appropriate in part because of the earlier child’s death and because Nardi called social services instead of 911 when her daughter was unresponsive in the bathtub.
She’s charged with first-degree reckless homicide and child neglect resulting in death.
Unable to post bond, Nardi is in the Lincoln County jail. Her next court appearance is next week.
