ROTHSCHILD, WI (WSAU) — An order to vacate was issued for the Budge Inn Motel on Grand Avenue on Tuesday morning.
According to a statement from Riverside Fire Chief David Briggs, the order was given at 9 AM after an inspection of the property. Inspectors noted previous issues that hadn’t been corrected and “further conditions found at the time of re-inspection.”
Briggs added that residents were aware of the potential for an order to vacate, and the department has been working with the Marathon County Health Department to find new housing for those at the Motel.
“It continues to be our hope that the fire and life safety issues be mitigated as soon as possible [so] the building may be re-occupied,” added Briggs.
The Riverside Fire Department is working with the Wisconsin Commercial Building Inspector to address structural concerns and the state Department of Safety and Professional Services Fire Division for adherence to state statutes and standards.
