STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza has confirmed that the city will offer curbside pickup for storm debris next week.
Branches and limbs should be placed in an “orderly fashion parallel to the road” by Monday, April 13th. Wiza says this is for those who are unable to get the debris to the city’s yard waste site on their own.
“We really want you to haul your brush [to the Yard Waste Site] if you are able,” said Wiza. “Our crews don’t have a whole lot of time, in addition to their regular duties, to go out and do curbside pickup. But we will be offering it.”
Wiza says the city will be using a grapple to pick up the debris, with crews hitting every neighborhood at least once. It’s unclear how long the process will take, so residents should have everything organized at the curb by Monday to make sure they won’t be missed.
The Yard Waste Site will be open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM through Friday to accommodate City of Stevens Point residents with tree branches. Workers do ask that all branches and limbs be cut up to a manageable size before they are dropped off.
All collected branches will be chipped up into mulch, which residents can pick up later this summer.
