WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau School District has announced the sale of Grant Elementary, about six months after a previous deal for the property fell apart.
Grant School LLC, a private company that is not affiliated with the district, bought the building for $555,000. The sale closed on March 30th, according to a release from the district.
“As we share this news with our community, which in many ways signifies the end of the consolidation process, we want to say ‘thank you.’” leaders noted. “Thank you for your patience and support throughout consolidation. As we close this final chapter of the process, we remain so grateful for the decades of education and community spirit that defined each of these incredible schools.
Grant Elementary was one of four schools that the district closed as part of an elementary restructuring process. Hawthorn Hills and Hewitt-Texas Elementary were sold to faith-based schools, while Lincoln Elementary was repurposed as a 4K facility.
The sale of the three buildings generated more than $2.8 million in revenue for the district.
Local broker Tim Wimmer represented the district in the sale of all three buildings.
