BOSTON, MA (WSAU) — The Boston Red Sox played smallball to perfection on Wednesday, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 on getaway day for the Crew.
Sal Frelick led the offense with a double in four plate appearances. Christian Yelich, David Hamilton, and Brandon Lockridge each had a single.
Shane Drohan was roughed up in 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks.
The Sox scored via a walk, groundout, sac fly, and two singles. None of their seven hits went for extra bases. It’s the first series victory for Boston (4-8).
Milwaukee (8-4) returns home to begin a series with the Washington Nationals on Friday. Pregame coverage for game one begins at 6:05 PM.
