Wisconsin Badgers
LAS VEGAS, NV (WSAU) The Badgers hockey team won their Frozen Four national semi-final game, 2-1, over North Dakota. They’ll play for a national championship on Saturday against Denver.
The Badgers scored twice in the 1st period, 27 seconds apart. Simon Tassy scored first at 12:54. Ryan Botterill scored Wisconsin’s second goal.
Wisconsin held the 2-0 into the late stages of the 3rd period. North Dakota pulled their goalie with more than 3 minutes left in the game. With the extra skater, they finally got on the scoreboard with 54 seconds remaining in the game. The Badgers were able to run out the remaining time to advance.
Freshman goalie Daniel Houser stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced.
The Badgers outshot North Dakota 37-22.
The national championship game begins at 4:30 PM CT. It will be heard on WSAU at 4:00 PM.
