LAS VEGAS (WSAU) – The Wisconsin hockey team fell short of a national championship, losing to Denver in the Frozen Four finals, 2-1.
Wisconsin scored first at 12:36 of the first period on a Vasiulky Zelenoiv goal.
Their 1-0 lead held up until 7:31 of the 3rd period. Denver scored the go-ahead goal with 5:52 left in the game.
Wisconsin outshot Denver, 30-15. Badger goalie Daniel Houser made 13 saves.
Ben Denheiumer and Vasiulky Zelenoiv were named to the all-tournament team.
Wisconsin finishes the season with a 24-13-2 record.
