Grand Theater.
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — With less than a month to go before a $17 million remodeling project gets underway, The Grand Theater has announced a change in the construction timeline.
What was originally scheduled as a two-phase project will now be completed in about seven months, from May to November. According to an email sent to ticket buyers, the move will keep construction costs down and keep the theater open for a summer 2027 season.
Updates will include new seats, fresh paint, and carpet. There will also be ADA improvements and upgrades to the theater’s office space, including the ticketing office.
There are still more than a dozen shows on the schedule before the theater shuts down for the project. The last scheduled show at the Grand is on May 7th when Mamma, I’m A Big Girl Now takes the stage. It features the original stars of the Broadway production of Hairspray to perform their favorite songs from multiple shows.
